Benefits Of Surah Al-Kahf

You know now that Surah al Kahf should be read on Friday. You should take into account multiple intents while reading Surah Al Kahf every Friday to get all its benefits and increase your rewards.

Surah al Khaf is approximately in the middle of the Mushaf. It consists of 110 verses. It tells about trials( Fitn) that we may face in our lives and what should we do in these trials by showing good or bad examples.

Surah al Kahf presents four unique stories that differ from those found in the rest of the Quran. Our prophet Mohamed taught us to recite it every Friday. He mentioned 4 benefits of this  including:

1. Remembering the meanings of Surah al Kahf:

Surah al Kahf contains many meanings that help us improve ourselves and renew our faith through 3 main stories ( the owner of 2 gardens, the people of the cave, and Mussa with Kheder). You should intent

2. Get rewards from Allah:

When you recite the Quran, you increase your faith by earning good deeds that give you rewards when you do your best to recite correctly even if you can not recite correctly.

3. Reviving a neglected Sunnah

We know that Reviving a neglected Sunnah is recommended since Our prophet told us that whoever do this will be given its reward and other reward for people who follow him.

4. Get its unique benefits

It is important to know that different Surahs in the Quran vary in their virtues, meanings, and spiritual impact on the life of a Muslim. Surah al Kahf has unique virtues, which are mentioned below. 

5. Surah al Kahf is the old property of our messenger

Surah al Kahf is meccan. Tafsirs mentioned the reason for its revelation was the question of unbelievers, so Allah provides answers to their inquiries through stories in this surah that contain deep moral lessons. These stories serve to confirm the truthfulness of Prophet Muhammad. The following Hadith shows this: 

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud:

Surat Bani-Israel, Al-Kahf (The Cave), Maryam, Taha, Al-Anbiya’ (The prophets) are amongst my first earnings and my old property, and (in fact) they are my old property.

6. Illumination till next Friday:

The main virtue of surah al Kahf is that if we recite it at night (After the Maghrib of Thursday) or the day of Friday, it illuminates for us till next Friday. This may mean that surah al Kahf enlightens the person who recites it every week on the Last day or it means that it acts as a light that shows us bad deeds and prevents us from doing sins. It was reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 

“Whoever reads Sūrat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him between the two Fridays.”

7. Descend tranquility:

We learn from Surah al Kahf that “When you believe in Allah and trust in his wisdom, you will feel quiet even if you face a difficult situation”. The following hadith shows us how reciting Surah al Kahf descend tranquility.

Al-Barā’ reported:

A man was reciting Sūrat Al-Kahf and his horse was tied with two ropes beside him. A cloud came down and spread over that man, and it kept on coming closer and closer to him till his horse started jumping (as if afraid of something). When it was morning, the man came to the Prophet and told him of that experience. The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

“That was tranquility which descended because of (the recitation of) the Quran.

8. Protect from Dajaal

The trial (fitna) of Dajaal , also known as (The Antichrist), is the most difficult one. All messengers warned his people about it. Our prophet taught us that the protective action we could do now to avoid it is memorizing the first or last ten verses of Surah al Kahf. What does Surah Kahf Protect you from?

You can now conclude the answer that it protects you from the following trials either by explaining how to deal with or through a special virtue of the surah that is mentioned in hadiths.

1. Fitnah  (trials)

Surah Kahf presents the four temptations of the world and how to overcome them. Since it presents stories about all of them and tells you how to do with them. For example:

A.  Persecution in religion:

This is explained in the story of the people of the cave and the surah is called after it. This story tells us about people who were exposed to persecution in religion. They did not give up but they tried their best to tell their people the right religion. The way that the Quran tells us to do in this situation is to keep ourselves with the good people.

B. money:

The story of the owner of 2 gardens shows us a person who does not remember that this money is from Allah. The best thing we should do to overcome this fitnah is to understand that this world will be finished.

C. knowledge:

In the story of Mussa, peace be upon him,  and the Kheder. This story shows that no one knows Allah’s wisdom. Even if you learn a lot, your knowledge is tiny compared to Allah’s knowledge.

D. powerful:

If you have great power, you should do your best to be fair. This is explained in the story of  In the story of Dhul-Qarnayn when he overcomes Gog and Magog. The Quran tells us what to do if we have a great power to succeed in this temptation. Sincerity, Humility Before Allah, and Acknowledging All Strength and Empowerment Belong to Allah are essential to succeed in it.

2. Dajaal (The Antichrist) 

 the Fitnah of Dajaal. If you can memorize, you will be protected from challenges that will happen in the time of the Dajaal. This time may be near, so do not postpone. An example of the challenges that will happen in this time is that he will say that he is Allah and kill those who do not say this. He may be able to cause rain and other great things.

Surah Al-Kahf should be read every Friday with multiple intentions, as it brings protection, light, rewards, and deep lessons from its four major stories. It shields from trials—including faith, wealth, knowledge, and power—and protects from the Fitnah of Dajjāl while reviving a powerful Sunnah.
