There is a proverb saying: If there is a will, there is a way. So, the whole matter is related to your will and determination. Your ego (Al nafs) will always try to stop you from doing good deeds. Fight it. Resist it. When you achieve victory over your ego you feel that you are relaxed and content.

As for he who stammers when reciting the Qur’an and find it difficult for him, he will be granted a double reward ” Al- Bukhari and Muslim.

Is Reading Quran Different from Reading Other Arabic Texts?

The answer to this question is definitely yes. The reader of this article may wonder and ask, aren’t both Texts (the Quranic text and any other Arabic text) in the same language? Aren’t both scripts written in the standard Arabic language (Fus’ha)? The answer is yes but there is still a big difference in how to read both of them. The reader of this article may get astonished and wonder, how is that? The following lines will remove confusion and resolve this ambiguity. They will help you to understand the difference.

Reading the Quranic script is not the same as when someone reads any other Arabic script such as a script in a newspaper, a magazine, or a book. The book of the Holy Quran was written in Othmanic Arabic calligraphy which is considered a kind of many other Arabic calligraphy.

On the other hand, there are the rules of knowledge called intonation knowledge (Tajweed) which is defined as the articulation of the Quranic verses by the prophet Muhammad’s articulations of these Quranic verses (Ayyat) in the same way as it was revealed by Gabriel upon our prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) The rules of intonation aim to adjust some necessary and important points relating to the correct pronunciation and the exact articulations of reading the Holy Quran.

It aims to deal with the recitation errors such as the common errors of reading some verses or the Quranic words wrongly or the errors related to the true pronunciation of some letter sounds as well. Also, they aim to clear the general areas of the proper articulations, the parts, and positions of the mouth and throat, the space in both mouth and throat, and the different parts of the tongue which are responsible for uttering the correct sound of specific letters such as the deepest part of the tongue, the bottom of the tongue the top of the tongue or the side of the tongue.

Learn to Read Quran Online (My Story)

I remember when I reached the age of twenty or twenty-one, I was determined to learn the Quran recitation so I brought a Qur’an tutor (Shiek) to my home. I thought It would be an easy task. As I just need to learn the intonation (Tajweed) rules because I am an Arabic native speaker. I thought I would not be in need to learn how to read my mother language (alphabetical articulations or word pronunciation). But it was a big surprise for me to find out that I need to learn a lot. I felt like I was a kid learning to swim in a big swimming pool on their first day.

My sheik had to stop me several times to correct my reading. I felt embarrassed. I was ashamed of myself for not being able to read the Holy Quran correctly but it was just him and me. since then, I decided to learn to read the Quran correctly even though I am a native Arabic speaker. Many serious questions jumped to my head. I felt as if ants moving in my brain.

I asked myself these questions: Why are Muslims so lazy to learn how to read the Holy Quran correctly whereas they are so active and eager to learn so many other things? Why do Muslims spend so much money on learning useless knowledge and at the same time forget to learn the book of Allah? What feelings do the elders feel when they hear kids reciting the Qur’an and they can’t? Since then I made my decision. And Alhumduallah I improved my reading and became efficient in reading and reciting the Qur’an. You can’t imagine how happy, joyful and proud I was when I managed to fulfill my goal.

In a hard world full of temptations, distractions, and puzzling questions, you need to connect with the Holy Quran to get tranquility and peace of mind. The Quran is the greatest book in our lives. It was sent to us as a guide. It teaches us how to live life in accordance with Islam.

We offer you some tips on how to develop a closer and strong relationship with the Qur’an:-

Make It Your Everyday Friend

Some people always carry the small paper book of the Quran (Musahf) in their pockets. Other people download the application of the Holy Quran on their mobile phones. It becomes their everyday companion everywhere. At home, at work, or on the bus. They spend everyday short free time reading and reciting it. Be one of those people. You will gain relief and peace of mind as well as you will gain handouts (Hasanat).

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will receive one good deed as ten good deeds like it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is one letter, but rather Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.” Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2910.

Read The Quran before Going to Sleep

If you do that, you will obtain peaceful sleeping and you may have pure night visions. In addition to this,  you will wake up feeling happy, energetic and spirited. Allah (glorified and exalted be He) says: “Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence and more suitable for words.”  Surah Al-Muzzammil 73.

I keep Mixing up Similar Quran Verses, What Should I Do?

Similar verses, or parts of verses, pose a difficulty to some Quran learners. When memorizing Quran, a lot of us tend to mix up certain verses that sound similar. So, what is the solution for this problem?

To deal with that matter you have to know that Allah the Almighty said in his precious book: “It is He who revealed to you the Book. Some of its verses are definitive; they are the foundation of the Book, and others are unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow the unspecific part, seeking dissent, and seeking to derive an interpretation. But none knows its interpretation except God and those firmly rooted in knowledge say, “We believe in it; all is from our Lord.” But none recollects except those with understanding.” Ali- Amran Verse 7.

So it is normal for many learners to mix up some similar verses. Here are some tips to deal with that matter:

Listen to The Holy Quran Daily

On your way to work, when you drive your car or at home, you should keep always listening to the Quran with high attention and care.

Find A Good Companion

Find a friend or a relative. Set with them a weekly meeting for reading, reciting, revising and refreshing the Holy Quran. Allah said: “And content yourself with those who pray to their Lord morning and evening, desiring His Presence. And do not turn your eyes away from them, desiring the glitter of this world. And do not obey him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance—so he follows his own desires—and his priorities are confused.” Al- kahf 28.

Join Gatherings Remembering Quran in Mosques

Reading or reciting the Holy Quran is one of Allah’s homes that grants us a unique and amazing feeling. We feel comfort, peace of mind, and safety. In addition, it helps one’s memory to be always attentive and refreshed. In these gatherings, we can review and revive the verses of the Holy Quran. We can also exchange our knowledge and thoughts about similar verses of the Holy Quran. The prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings are upon him) said: “No people sit in a gathering remembering Allah. But the angels surround them, mercy covers them, tranquility descends upon them and Allah remembers them before those who are with Him.” Sunan Ibn Majah 3791.
