Surah Yaseen is a Meccan Surah which was revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) in Mecca. Surah Yaseen is contained within the parah 22 and 23. This Surah has many virtues in worldly and spiritual life.
Many hadiths have been narrated about the virtues of this Surah, the most prominent of which is: “Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Yaseen; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.”

Different names of Surah Yaseen
The name (Yaseen) is the correct and well-known name for the Surah among scholars. However, six other names are also mentioned, for which there is no authentic hadith. These names are:
1. The heart of the Qur’an.
2. Almoe’mah المعمة: Which brings goodness in this life and the hereafter.
3. AlDafe’ah & AlQadeyah الدافعة القاضية: Meaning that it repels evil and fulfills needs.
4. Ala’zemah العظيمة: in English, the great

6. Surah Habib Al-Najjar; he is Habib bin Murrah according to what was reported by Ibn Abbas and his companions, and whose story was mentioned in the Surah as Allah said;
(وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ)
In English: And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, “O my people, follow the messengers.
When to Read Surah Yaseen
There is no specific time prescribed in authentic Islamic teachings for reading Surah Yaseen. While there are numerous narrations about its virtues, many of these are either weak (da’if) or fabricated (mawdu’), such as the claim that reading it at night or in the morning guarantees forgiveness or answered prayers.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged the general recitation of the Quran but did not specify particular times for Surah Yaseen. Therefore, it is best to recite it as part of regular Quranic reading without attributing special times or rewards to it, as doing so without evidence is considered an innovation (bid’ah). Wrong Benefits of reading Surah Yaseen
Many people think that: “Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Yaseen; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.” is hadith saheeh. Unfortunately, this hadith is classed as da’if.
Some people narrate a hadith that says “Yaseen is for that for which it is read,” meaning that reading Surah Yaseen may cause needs to be met and may make things easier, according to the intention of the reader when he reads it. However, this is a fabricated hadith and is not narrated from any of sahabah or who followed them.
The following ahadith are also classed as da’if (weak) ahadith:
“Whoever reads Surah YaSeen in one night will be forgiven in the morning.”
“Whoever continues to read it every night then dies, will die as a shahid (martyr).”
“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surah Ya-Sin, their (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have hasanat (reward) equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”

Benefits of reading Surah Yaseen after Fajr
Allah says at Surah Al-Isra: “Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Quran of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.”

Some people think if a sick person reads Surah Yaseen 7 times, Allah will heal him from whatever is sickening him.

Allah says: “We send down in the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe.”
Surah Yaseen verse 9 benefits
Allah says at verse 9 of Surah Yaseen: “And We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and have covered them up, so they are unable to see.”
The tafseer of Abul Ala Maududi interprets this verse: Setting a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, means that the natural result of their stubbornness and pride is that they neither learn any lesson from their past history nor ever consider the consequences of the future.
Their prejudices have so covered them from every side and their misconceptions have so blinded them that they cannot see even those glaring realities which are visible to every right-thinking and unbiased person.
The Prophet (PBUH) commanded Ali to sleep in his bed the night of the Hijrah. The Prophet SAW Said:
عَن معقل بن يسَار الْمُزنِيّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ (يس) ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنبه فاقرؤوها عِنْدَ مَوْتَاكُمْ»
In English; Ma’qil b. Yasār al-Muzanī reported the Prophet as saying, “If anyone recites Yā’ Sīn (Qur’ān, 36) out of a desire for God’s favour, his past sins will be forgiven him; so recite it over those of you who are dying.” Reference: Mishkat al-Masabih 2178

In English; Abū Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “A thousand years before creating the heavens and the earth God recited Tā’ Hā’ (Qur’ān, 20) and Yā’ Sīn, and when the angels heard the recitation they said, ‘Happy are a people to whom this comes down, happy are the minds which carry this, and happy are the tongues which utter this’.”
Authentic hadith on the virtues of Surat Yaseen
