(Note: avoid portraying the Prophets and Companions as it is forbidden).
6- Crafts

Interactive Quran Learning Method
From my experience, I can sum up some strategies for interactive Quran learning. Here are some useful strategies for memorization, reflection and revision.
1) Memorization
Memorization is an interactive activity in itself. Its process is based on an interaction among the teacher and the students. Through this strategy, your kid can first listen to the recitation, repeat after listening (like Al-Mushaf Al-Mu’alim) and recite out loud. Then, you can record your kid’s recitation, listen to your kid’s record, and pick the mistakes together. Finally, you can ask your kid to recite the Ayaat by heart.
For effective memorization, it is better to repeat each step several times. This strategy helps the child imitate the Tajweed and memorize quickly.
2) Reflection
Ask your kids an important question: “How can we apply this Ayah in our life?” to emphasize that the Quran is a lifestyle, not a book to be memorized only. Try to reflect with your kids on the Verses which contain supplications and ask them to keep it up. You can also encourage them to renew their Salah by praying with the new Ayaat.
3) Revision
You can plan a schedule for frequent revision according to your kids abilities. You can then ask your kid to write down the Surah after memorization if he/she knows how to write. The Shadowing Technique is also a good way to revise Surahs (to know more about shadowing click here).
When Should Children Begin Learning the Quran?
It is better to begin this journey at an early age and follow a schedule to encourage the child to complete the memorization of the whole chapters of the Quran before entering school. Learning the Quran is a lifelong journey. In the past days, to apply for admission to join the primary school under Al-Azhar Educational system in Egypt, a student must be a Hafiz!
When the child has a clear mind, high memorizing ability and keenness on imitation, he/she is ready to learn the Quran. It was said learning at a young age is like carving on stones. Keep your kids away from tablets, tv channels and video games as much as you can.
