Now after you’ve read the recommended article, let’s move on to the purpose of today’s article which is “How to memorize the Quran”.
2-Customize Your Memorization Amount:
Choose the amount you want to memorize, choosing a specific amount to memorize in a single sitting that is within the reader’s capacity is important.
3- Maintaining Consistency: A Key to Success:
The reader should avoid increasing the amount during their days of enthusiasm, particularly at the start of memorizing to avoid becoming tired, bored, or frustrated and giving up memorizing altogether.
Instead, you must educate yourself on the freedom in choosing the amount, keeping in mind that the only thing that matters is the daily upkeep of memorizing.
4- Seek Your Sheikh’s Guidance:
Seek your Sheikh’s guidance; If the memorizer is unable to read the Ottoman artwork, they must first recite the specified number of verses on their Sheikh from the Qur’an before beginning to memorize.
Choosing the suitable Sheikh is critical for success, which is why Shaykhi Academy has gathered the best Sheikhs out there, who offer Online Quran Recitation Courses to teach you how to recite the Quran properly.

7- Balanced Vocalization and Finding the Right Volume:
Raise your voice while memorizing since lowering your voice makes the reader lazy. But avoid being overly loud since it exhausts the reader and hurts people around them. However, there is nothing wrong with lowering your voice but make sure to move your tongue.
8- Adhering to Tajweed Rules:
Recite the verses slowly as you read them from memory paying close attention to the rules of Tajweed following what the Almighty has said: (And the Qur’an is recited with recitation).
The Prophet peace be upon him was guided to not move his tongue in haste with it after the revelation of the Almighty’s saying: (Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith).
Emitting from our belief in the importance of Tajweed in the process of Quran memorization, we at Shaykhi Academy incorporate Tajweed dedicated lessons among our Quranic memorization courses.
9- Repetition for Reinforcing the Memorization:
Recall what you’ve memorized to yourself and repeat it over and over again. That way it will be easy to guard the verses of the Quran in your memory against slipping away.
10- Audible Self-Recitation for Memorization Quality Check:
To confirm the accuracy of the memorizing and to guarantee that there are no extra verses, words, or grammatical faults, read the verses you have memorized aloud to yourself.
11- Recite the Verses on Your Sheikh:
It is essential that you recite the verses you learned by heart to your chosen Sheikh; as he/she will be the best checker of the Quality of your recitation and memorization.

11- Understand That Memorizing the Quran is Easy
“And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember. Then is there any that will remember (or receive an admonition)?”. Al-Qamar 32
And the greatest evidence of this is that the holy Quran was, and still is memorized by kids, adults, and non-arabs. Ibn Juzi said in his interpretation after this verse: This is known by witnessing; It is memorized by the youngest children perfectly, unlike other books.
And he continued and said :
I know a non-Arab who memorizes the Quran perfectly, and from the severity of his mastery, if a verse is read to him, he comes with the one before it! And if you wander among the videos of the international competitions of the Quran on YouTube, you will find examples of non-Arabs who memorize the Quran perfectly and not just that but also knowing the numbers of the verses!
As for the elderly, they are many. For example, Ibn al-Jawzi who learned the ten readings when he was eighty years old!
12- When You Have Decided, then Rely upon Allah
If you find in yourself a willingness and passion to memorize , Don’t let it go to waste. All the verses and hadiths of rushing to do good deeds are suitable to be included in this point, is there anything greater than the words of Allah?
Also do not spend a lot of time consulting and making plans to start memorizing. decide and perform your decision without hesitation, it is more effective and thus prevents yourself from retreating.
13- Choose Your Best Way to Memorize.
If you are one of those who prefer to memorize by themselves and see in yourself the ability to commit, then you can consult someone you trust about the method of memorization and it’s important that they knows your abilities, the nature of your work and your occupation, And other individual differences .
But In my opinion, the best way to memorize is by getting a mastered sheikh to memorize the Quran with him and he will help you to correct your mistakes and also help you memorize the Quran easily, which is what our academy provides for you at the highest possible level. You can also specify the times of your Quran lessons. Thus, you will not have to worry about your work or your children and so on.
And remember that the people of the Quran are truly the ones who find time with it, despite
their busyness, so the bliss of his closeness makes them forget the troubles of life.
14. Make Sure You’re Memorizing Correctly .
A lot of people keep repeating the same pronunciation mistakes over and over and if you ask them about the reason, they says: That’s how I memorized it at first and nobody corrected it for me!
As I have already mentioned to you in the previous point, It is better for you to read to an expert sheikh or listen to the glorified reciters, or do both things together, thus making sure that your memorization of the Quran is correct and Flawless .
15. Master Your Memorization!
In our religion, Getting the work done right, even if only a small portion of it, is preferable to completing it inefficiently.
Have you not you read the saying of Allah. “ [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed ” Allah didn’t say “more”, he said “best ”.
What was quickly memorized, quickly forgotten. It was proven on the authority of Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, that he spent four years learning Surat Al-Baqarah.
Al-Zarqani commented: This is not due to the slowness of his memorization. Rather, because he was learning its obligations and rulings and what is related to them, it was narrated from the Prophet peace be upon him , that it is makrooh “ hated ” to rush to memorize the Quran without understanding it.
16. It’s Never too Late!
No matter how old you are or what job you have You can memorize the entire Quran or most of it.
We passed by that Ibn al-Jawzi learned the ten readings when he was eighty years old. The news of the elderly in this regard is many and surprising.
This is in terms of age. As for those who work, in the lessons that I joined, I met women who are married and have children and who work, yet they continue to attend the lessons so that they won’t miss any of the memorization.
And as Ibn al-Qayyim said,Whoever saw the dawn of reward, underestimated the hardship of work .
17. Move Step by Step .
Some people spend a great deal of time and effort in learning Tajweed and its minor and major issues during memorization and try to identify the subtleties of Tafsir and the subtleties of deductions, and all this is at the expense of mastering and stabilizing memorization. Yes, Tajweed is important, and knowing the meaning of the memorized verses is a requirement and helps memorize; but the mistake is to learn the higher levels of Tajweed and to read the long and large commentaries.
It is enough for you at first to pronounce the word correctly, and to learn the basic rulings in Tajweed, which are frequently repeated in the Quran.
18. It’s not a Requirement to Memorize All of the Quran.
Which makes some afraid of taking a step in memorizing the Qur’an, because he knows that he is unable to memorize the entire Qur’an, so he abandons memorization altogether! This is depriving the soul of a great good. Not all of the Sahaba memorized the entire Qur’an,
There was who memorized Al-Baqarah and Aal_ Imran, and some of them memorized Al-Mofassal (from Surat Qaf to Al-Nas), and they did not deprive themselves from the blessing of Qur’an on the pretext of inability, and we know what prevented them from memorizing and mastering it completely, may God be pleased with them. Your time may not be enough to memorize the entire Qur’an,
And your memory may not be that strong due to advanced age and others, so memorize and master what you can, and try to memorize the surahs with virtues such as Al-Baqarah , Al-Imran, Al-Kahf, Blessed, and the like, or Al-Mufassal.
Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said, “He who does not memorize any part from the Quran he is like the ruined house.’’
19. Memorizing is for Everyone.
Among the pests of the age is the division of society into two groups: the righteous and the unrighteous, and this is something that Allah did not legislate or accept. The Quran is a book of guidance for all.
Rather, the verses of contemplation were addressed to the non believers. Whoever memorizes the Qur’an will be overwhelmed with blessings and rewards. Do not think that if you are negligent – and who among us does not neglect – that memorizing the Quran is not for you, or that you are not suitable for it; Rather, approach it , and it will be a door to guidance and change for the better, inshallah.
Memorizing the Quran is an honor, pride, and elevation in this world and the hereafter, and this is what that a Muslim strives for, regardless of classifications.
20. Make Dua for memorizing the Quran:
Make Dua for memorizing the Quran as You should pray to Allah Almighty to help you in your quest and bless it to you . And remember that you don’t memorize the Qur’an by your own efforts and abilities but by Allah’s help. he is the only one who can help you to memorize, and He is also the only one, by His will, who is able to make you reach your goal.
And I warn you to not be like Qarun, who said: “This has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess.”

What Should I Do after Memorizing the Quran?
After answering your question “How to memorize the Quran”, now you have to know some points you should do after memorizing it.
1- To avoid the show-off (Riyaa):
Al-Riyaa is the act of doing or offering acts of worship to reach attention to the act so that others may praise the performer, or come to respect them as a result of their actions.
That’s why prophet Mohammed peace be upon him said: “The only thing I fear for you is the small or minor shirk” and what is a minor shirk O messenger of God? He said: “Hypocrisy. When God will reward people according to their deeds He will say to these people: look at those of which you have earned in this world and see if you’ll find a reward in it?”
2- Be Considerate of Quran politeness And Manners:
It’s of significant importance to be considerate of the manners of the Quran; because the Quran is intended to be followed and used as a guide for living.
Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, said: “The Qur’an was sent down so that they may act upon it, so take studying it as work. Indeed, one of you recites the Qur’an from its opening to its conclusion, not a single letter falls out of it, and it has been omitted”.
3- Recite the Quran with Understanding:
The importance of reciting the Quran with understanding is evident in what some scholars said: “The slave recites the Qur’an and curses himself while He does not know, he says: God’s curse is on the unjust, and he is unjust himself, God’s curse is on the liars, and he is one of them”.
Moreover, Anas, may God be pleased with him, said: “There may be someone who recites the Quran but the Quran curses him’, referring to those who read the Quran, but don’t follow its teachings, which can be as a result of not understanding it.
4- To Avoid Ego and Pride:
If it wasn’t for the kindness and grace of God Almighty, you would not have been able to memorize the Qur’an or even a part of it. God Almighty is the helper to make it happen and the guide to doing so.
Do not feel too proud of yourself because those around you do not equal your rating, since this will just make others look down on you and assume you are ignorant.
Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Pride is my cloak and greatness My robe, and he who competes with Me in respect of either of them I shall cast into Hell-fire.
5- Learn the Hadiths that Revolve Around Memorizing the Quran:
Keep in mind the Hadiths that urge you to memorize the Qur’an and forbid you from forgetting it.
There are numerous Hadiths that urge one to follow the Qur’an and forbid forgetting it, including:
-Ibn ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “The parable of one who knows the Qur’an by heart is as the parable of an owner of a hobbled camel. If he remains vigilant, he will retain it; and if he neglects it, it will go away.”
-Ibn Mas’ud reported Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as saying: Wretched is the man who says: I forgot such and such a sura, or I forget such and such a verse, but he has been made to forget.
-Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Keep on reciting the Qur’an, for by the One in Whose Hand my life is, the Qur’an slips away from memory faster than camels escaping their tying ropes.”
These and other hadiths lead the scholars to speak on the time that one should not exceed when reciting the Noble Qur’an. Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: He who recites the Qur’an in a period less than three days does not understand it.
So three days is the bare minimum amount of time that one should spend reading the Qur’an. The wisdom – and God knows best – about it being not allowed to recite it in fewer than three days is that reading quickly may cause a lack of comprehension, boredom, carelessness, or pronunciation mistakes
6- Protecting Memorization from Forgetfulness by Avoiding Sins:
Sins and disobedience are the root causes of forgetting the Qur’an. Forgetting the Noble Qur’an is without a doubt one of the greatest sins described in various verses that link the servant’s misdeeds to their transgressions.
Abu Burdah narrated from his father Abu Musa, that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: “No worshiper suffers a calamity nor what is worse than that or less, except due to a sin, and what Allah pardons as a result of it is more.” He (Abu Musa) said: “And he recited: And whatever misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned.
7- Teach Others the Verses You Have Learnt:
Share your memorized verses with family, friends, or community members. Teaching others not only reinforces your own memorization but also contributes to the spread of Quranic knowledge.
8- Abide by Regular Revision:
Establish a consistent routine for revising previously memorized portions. Regular revision helps in retaining the verses in long-term memory and prevents forgetting over time.
9- Show Your Gratitude:
Conclude your memorization session with expressing gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to memorize His words. Seek His guidance to act upon the memorized verses and to deepen your connection with the Quran.
10- Application in Daily Life:
Actively apply the memorized verses in your daily life. Consider how the teachings of the Quran can influence your actions, decisions, and interactions with others, fostering a practical implementation of the memorized content.
11- Deepen Your understanding of the Quran:
Deepening your understanding of the Quran can be through consulting knowledgeable scholars or teachers, and seeking explanations, interpretations, and insights to enhance your comprehension and enrich your knowledge.
12- Engage in Group Recitation:
Join or form a group for Quranic recitation sessions. Participating in group recitation allows for mutual encouragement, correction, and a sense of community centered around the Quran.
13- Participate in Quranic Competitions:
Engage in local or online Quranic competitions to test your memorization skills. Competing with others can provide motivation, feedback, and a sense of achievement, further encouraging your commitment to memorization.
14- Share Your Inspirational Experiences:
Share your Quran memorization journey with others, either through social media, blogs, or community gatherings. Inspire and encourage fellow learners by sharing challenges, strategies, and the spiritual impact of memorizing the Quran.
15- Sponsor a Quranic Project:
Consider sponsoring or participating in a Quranic project that involves sharing the message of the Quran with a broader audience. This could include supporting educational initiatives, translation projects, or community outreach programs centered around the Quran.
